ASUS P526 PDA Phone Includes GPS Capabilities


ASUS have just launched their P526 PDA Phone with GPS capabilities. It’s a compact, lightweight unit at 110 x 58 x 15.4 mm and 115g. The screen is a 2.6 inch TFT supporting 65,000 colors at a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. GPS capability is supplied by the ever popular SiRF Star III GPS Chip. Running on a Windows Mobile 6 Professional operating system platform with the Java Mobile Edition (J2ME) supported, there is plenty of scope with the P526 to run GPS based business productivity applications. Microsoft have numerous GPS applications available.

Comprehensive GPS Capabilities

The GPS navigation software onboard the ASUS P526 is able to plot a routes to direct users to selected destination. Using the user-friendly interface, users can enter a destination and obtain directional maps with travel data like distance traveled, street addresses, and the time and distance left for the journey provided also. It could be a handy companion for the traveller in a stange town.

It’s not all about GPS though, and the P526 has numerous business productivty applications including; PIM/Office IE, Word, Excel, Power Point (viewer), MSN, Alarm, Calendar, Organizer, File Manager, Telephone Book, Notebook, InBox, Voice Recognition. There is a 2 Mega Pixel camera for photos you could even geotag (tag with a GPS address) in case you forget where you them.

A useful application is ASUS’s Remote Presenter is a useful application that allows users to control Powerpoint presentations stored on a notebook or PC via a Bluetooth connection. Presentation slide footnotes can be read from the P526′s LCD screen while presenting.
