August 9, 2007Mio C710 GPS Portable and Car GPS Navigation Device ReviewMio’s DigiWalker C710 is Mio’s highest specification GPS portable navigation device. It distinguishes itself as such by being Bluetooth-enabled and having a suite of multimedia capabilities.
It does share some features with lower specification DigiWalker models such as the C220 including a large 3.5″ color, TFT touch screen which has and anti-glare treatment. Its GPS functionality is also powered by the SirRF Star III GPS receiver which is noted for its faster fix times, higher signal locking and tracking sensitivity and much lower power requirements as compared to other GPS receiver chips. Another higher specification feature of this DigiWalker is the provision of real-time traffic updates utilizing an integrated TMC receiver. Real-time traffic information allows users to avoid problems like road construction zones and traffic delays. As mentioned, the C710 comes Bluetooth enabled and ready to link with Bluetooth-enabled cell phones for the safety provided by hands-free communication. Other Bluetooth enabled devices such as computers or PDA can also be connected to the C710. The C710 comes with a DivX media player for viewing digital video or photos (jpeg), and music playback. For multimedia file handling flexibility, the C710 includes an SD/MMC reader. The C710 has a USB port and comes with a USB cable, allowing the importing of play lists and music files.
