Nokia LD-3W GPS Bluetooth Wireless Module Review


Nokia Wireless GPS Module LD-3W adds GPS navigation functionality to your mobile phone. The LD-3W connects wirelessly to a compatible phone, PC, or PDA using Bluetooth wireless technology. Nokia is moving rapidly into the location based services market and the LD-3W is compatible with a number of location-based applications and services.

The unit is powered by a SiRF Star III receiver chip (20 channels) well regarded for its market leading sensitivity enabling it to establish and maintain GPS satellite fixes even in poor signal reception areas. The module comes with a Nokia DC-4 mobile charger.

GPS and other Software Applications for Nokia LD-3W

The LD-3W can support a wide range of applications available from third parties including; Wayfinder Navigator, ROUTE 66 Mobile, ADnota album, and Genimap WeatherGuide.

Wayfinder Navigator displays your location on a digital map and provides vocal navigation instructions to your destination. Destinations can be searched for by street addresses, restaurants, and other points of interest.

ROUTE 66 Mobile is a navigation system which works with Nokia Series 60 mobile phones.

ADnota album allows you to conveniently find pictures stored in your compatible mobile phone’s photo gallery, using a variety of search options. With ADnota album images are geotagged (location information attached to image file). It’s possible to search for pictures based on where you took them.

The Genimap WeatherGuide provides current weather information and forecasts.
