GPS Device Spells End to Auto Theft and Teenage Driving Deaths?

EarthSearch Communications AutoSearchGPS 1.4 is a automotive GPS device with both tracking and remote vehicle management features available from a cell phone or computer.

AutoSearchGPS 1.4

AutoSearchGPS 1.4L provides numerous features including:

  • Movement Sensor – provides capability to detect vehicle movement;
  • Locate/Track — ability to locate and track your vehicle in real time or with the assistance of EarthSearch Communications customer support;
  • Disable/Enable – for disabling the engine remotely (only when engine is disengaged unless carried out by EarthSearch Communications); and
  • Alerts — receive various alerts: silent alarm, movement, speed, battery disconnect, geo-fence.

With statistics including, car crashes remain the leading cause of teen deaths in the United States and a vehicle being stolen in the United States every 26 seconds it understandable why EarthSearch Communications are pointing our the parental control and crime prevention features of their AutoSearchGPS 1.4L product.

The alert capability can give parents the flexibility to set restrictions such as speed or an allowable perimeter of travel (geofencing) and then be alerted by phone when they have been exceeded. The engine disabling and motion detection functionalities can prevent a thief from starting a car and raised an alert even it is towed away without being started. After an unauthorized movement alert is raised, tracking options are then available to recover the car in short order.

This is another product which will raise awareness of the social implications of location awareness within the public’s consciousness. The genie is out of the bottle and there will be years of discussion, debate and legislation regarding the issues. In an example of catching up with the future far quicker than expected, the implications of location awareness and analogous monitoring technologies have only recently been examined in science fiction novels. Location awareness was provided by the Companions in Robert. J. Sawyer’s, award winning Hominids and by WormCams in The Light of Other Days by Arthur. C. Clarke and Stephen Baxter.

EarthSearch Communications, Inc. has announced the rollout of a pilot program with Mazda USA
