When the 911 button is activated in the event of a life-threatening or other critical emergency, the Spot Messenger acquires a fix from the GPS network of your exact coordinates sends that location along with a distress message to the GEOS International Emergency Response Center which is part of the GEOS travel safety and travel security organization.
