The Lowrance Endura Sierra outdoors GPS range – Sierra, Safari and Out&Back are the premium model of Lowrances next-generation handheld outdoors GPS navigator range. The Sierra has detailed pre-loaded mapping, extensive expansion capabilities and community content access. It�s suitable for outdoor activities including hiking, mountain biking, hunting and geocaching as well as sports such as cycling, snowmobiling and skiing. The 42 channel GPS receiver is WAAS enabled for greater accuracy.

All Endura models share the same 2.7 in \ 68 mm QVGA (320 x 240, HxW) transflective touchscreen for outdoor use . Lowrance have optimized the user interface for ease-of-use using both the touch-screen and �hot key� buttons to quickly access the main features. Naturally all models are waterproof to the IPx7 standard (submersible) and the housing has the protection of rubberized armouring.
Sierra
A couple of highlights of the Endura Sierra specification are the digital, stabilized 3-axis compass (don�t have to be moving for a reading) and a barometric altimeter. There�s also a trip computer for recording trip times, speed and distance travelled. The Sierra can provide entertainment on the trail with a multimedia MP3/picture/video player. You can even record voice notes as there is a microphone along with the speaker and headphone jack. Battery life of the alkaline batteries is about 15 hrs although there is a power standby mode which saves battery life.
Included in the pre-loaded content is Intermap�s AccuterraTM high-resolution topographic maps, extensive outdoor trail networks and Points of Interest, as well as the NAVTEQ road network for the contiguous 48 states. You can optionally upgrade option the Sierra to a full-featured turn-by-turn navigator. Other optional content available from Lowrance includes Fishing Hot Spots and other national and international map content. Free content is also available with the Sierra accepting many public domain files and community-based content such as GPX trails and general outdoor POI�s.
Safari
The mid range model, the Safari, misses out on the onboard 4GB memory. It has a different suite of preloaded content compared to the Sierra including mapping content with detailed hill shading, topographic contours, primary and secondary roads and key POIs. You can still optionally upgrade option the Safari to a full-featured turn-by-turn navigator. The other paid and free content mentioned is also available.
The Safari does not include the digital compass or barometric altimeter.
Out&Back
The Endura Out&Back is the economy model of the Endura range but, still has the same excellent hardware platform as the Sierra and Safari except for the 4MB internal memory and digital compass and digital barometer. With optional content downloads the unit can be upgraded as desired.
