Garmin Portable Friction Mount Review

The Garmin Portable Friction Mount is a very effective product with 85% of the thousands of Amazon customer reviews giving it a 5 out of 5 star rating. It’s also popular with the unit being the most popular friction mount sold on Amazon. Garmin have a few mounts with slightly different names – this review is of the Garmin Portable Friction Mount (Garmin Part Number: 010-10908-02).

Garmin Portable Friction Mount

In some states (Minneapolis or California) a friction mount is a necessity with window suction mounts being illegal. Another reason for a friction mount is a steeply raked window and wide dashboard making window mounting problematic from both viewing distance and arm reach perspectives. Security is another reason for a friction mount as the unit is simple to remove and store when the vehicle is parked. A friction mount is also a much better solution than the commonly supplied permanent adhesive disk to mount your GPS to the dash

The Garmin Friction Mount) can be placed on the dash in any suitable position and the mount weight and friction pad underneath are enough to keep the device stationary even through sharp turns as testified to by many satisfied customers. The friction mount looks something like a four leaf clover bean bag design with an arm ending in ball on top. The mount doesn’t need a perfectly flat surface being able to mold itself to the surface contour. The cradle part of the suction mount supplied with each GPS navigator snaps onto the end of the arm which can be rotated and locked into a suitable position.
