November 29, 2010Garmin Approach S1 GPS Enabled Golf Watch ReviewGarmin’s Approach S1 GPS enabled golf watch integrates a high-sensitivity GPS receiver into a light, tough, waterproof, flexible strapped sports watch. It is attractive enough to be worn as an everyday watch which has an alarm and automatically sets its time and time zone thanks to its GPS capability.
Once switched on and after a 30 to 60 second delay for GPS satellite signal acquisition, the S1 indicates the current hole being played. As a golf GPS enabled assistant, the S1 gives some relatively basic but essential information being the distance to the front, back and middle of greens for more than 14,000 preloaded U.S. and Canadian courses. No subscriptions are required. Golfers can measure shot distances by tripping the start and walking to their golf ball. The S1 will also function as an odometer recording the distance walked during a round of golf. The display has plain gray LCD characters and is readable in bright sunlight and has a backlight for low light situations. If you are after a watch and play golf then this product is worth considering for its usefulness. Manual for Garmin Approach S1 GPS Enabled Golf Watch User Reviews and Price Comparisons
