Garmin Montana 650t Waterproof Hiking GPS with Digital Camera and TOPO US 100k Maps Review

The Garmin Montana 650t Hiking GPS with digital camera and TOPO US 100k Maps is an impressive new product thanks to its versatility and premium features. Garmin have imbued it with some of the leading edge technologies available in mobile phones. The Garmin Montana 650t is perfectly capable of being used for outdoors, on the water and road navigation. A key feature is the large, dual orientation 4 inch, color touchscreen which is sunlight-readable and has the high resolution to make TOPO and other detailed maps look good. Being able to switch from portrait to landscape mode makes the Montana much more usable for turn-by-turn car navigation. Ruggedized and waterproof, the Montana will take all the knocks and environmental exposure it will have to endure.

Garmin Montana 650t Hiking GPS with Digital Camera

The Garming Montana 650t is identical to the 600 unit apart from the addition of a 5 megapixel digital camera and and TOPO US 100k Maps. Each image is geotagged so you will know exactly where it was taken when you look back using the Montana’s picture viewer. The camera offers a choice of portrait or landscape orientation and there is microSD card slot to ensure you won’t run out of memory.

The supplied TOPO US 100K topographic maps supplied are comparable to 1:100,000 scale USGS maps. They include; terrain contours, topo elevations, summits, parks, coastlines, rivers, lakes, geographical points and more. Purchasing the TOPO maps up front delivers a saving over purchasing them individually.
