Navman S30 S Series Car GPS Navigator ReviewLike the famous HP, Navman was a garage start-up company however, it began in the very different location - Auckland, New Zealand. The company name was changed in the early 1990s to Navman which came from the name of one of the world’s first chart plotters.
Navman has obviously put considerable corporate experience into developing their new S Series car GPS navigators which have received some 500 individual improvements. The S30 was recently nominated for the Best Buy Gold Award by PC Advisor. The S30 has an attractive, smart look with a silver casing finish with generously curved edges, slim form factor (20mm) and a LCD touchscreen set in a thick black border. Navman S70 and S50 S Series Car GPS Navigator ReviewNavman have obviously put in some heavy design work developing their new S Series car GPS navigators having made 500 individual improvements. The S50 and S70 both have an attractive, smart look with a silver casing finish with generously curved edges, slim form factor (20mm) and a widescreen LCD touchscreen set in a thick black border.
Specifications for the Navman S70 and S50 are identical except for the maps pre-loaded. The S50 is sold with only regional maps for the location/country sold in while the S70 has European maps covering 21 countries in Western and Central Europe, including major roads leading into Eastern Europe. Navman S90i S Series Car GPS Navigator ReviewThe Navman S90i is the premier model of the Navman S series of car GPS navigators. It has recently been nominated for the 4th Pocket-lint Gadget Awards 2007.
The Navman S90i has an attractive, smart look with a silver casing finish with generously curved edges, slim form factor (20mm) and a widescreen LCD touchscreen set in a black border. Navman iCN 750 GPS Camera and Car Navigation Device with NavPixNavman call it a camera but, it’s also a fully featured car navigation device. Notable features of the newly announced Navman iCN 750 GPS camera are the 1.3 megapixel camera of course, a high-resolution 4†WQVGA (480×272) widescreen display, the latest second-generation SiRFstarIII chipset for rapid position determination and the “navigate by images†approach using the NavPix image library. As well as being use in-car, the iCN 750 has also been designed with a pocetsize form factor for personal navigation portability.
Navigation by pictures is simplicity itself – pick the picture of where you want to go and let the Navman iCN 750 work out the navigation details. To add a “destination image†to your NavPix library one simply takes a photo and a geo-referenced digital “place of interest†image is saved to the NavPix library for later use. A few other very useful navigation methods with the iCN 750 include Fuel and Park buttons to find the nearest gas station or parking lot. The Home button automatically plans your route home with a single button touch.
